Control
Control is a reflection of a word we hear constantly but rarely stop to examine. Through the character of Lucky the Ghost, manipulated by a Mickey Mouse reminiscent of Ratatouille—the piece asks a layered question: Who’s really in control? Is it the media shaping our behaviors, our subconscious, or the echoes of our childhood influences? This artwork challenges viewers to consider how control manifests in modern culture, blurring the lines between nostalgia, identity, and power.
Process
The piece began with a series of rough figures and simplified forms, designed digitally using Adobe Creative Suite to develop clean, layered linework in vector format. Once finalized, the composition was divided into multiple pages for accurate scaling, then transferred to canvas using precision transfer paper to maintain the integrity of each line. The painting stage began with background and foundational colors, applied through 5–7 layers of Golden Acrylic Liquid Latex to ensure depth and smooth saturation. While still a work in progress, the upcoming steps include completing the bold black outlines and sealing the piece with a matte gloss finish to unify the textures and enhance visual impact.
